Dance Redefined!
For the ultimate in fun and fitness, look no further than dance! It’s one of the oldest art-forms and it comes packed with an incredible number of health benefits.
All our body-parts, the muscles and bones, as well as the organs are guaranteed a tune up like no other. We can expect better body function in every way, from balance to strength to cardio-respiratory function. Endorphins, the feel-good hormones, are secreted as we consume the calories, and these make for a fun fitness experience which make a dance workout feel more like a party rather than exercise.
Another great thing about dance is the social aspect. It’s the perfect way to foster social connectivity between people while at the same time improving quality of life from a physical standpoint.
Dance is an expression of emotion, especially joy; it really does not feel much like exercise! For many, it’s the perfect way to connect with others while giving their body the benefits it needs.
Latin Dancing is Healthy and Fun
Dancing is a great way to improve your fitness, and Latin dance can be incredibly healthy, relaxing, and rejuvenating. The proper calibration of speed and dance sequences in a salsa dance class can be all you need to blast your abdominal fat and lose weight. But that’s just the beginning.
Salsa dance sessions target all muscle groups, elevating your energy levels like nothing else. Dancing aids joint and bone health, it improves balance, relieves stress, and can enhance memory. Further, meeting new people in salsa dance lessons can significantly improve your self-esteem, strengthen your social skills, and help you build stronger and lasting relationships.
Fast Movement and Changing Steps
There is never a dull moment in a Latin dance class. Your muscles are getting toned, fat is getting blasted, and stress is getting busted. This dance style has three steps or weight changes performed in a four-beat measure. Sometimes a tap or kick replaces the weight changes.
The trainer may also introduce a break step that is longer than the weight changes. These break steps can be used to differentiate the style of salsa dance you are performing. A basic salsa cycle consists of six weight changes in 8 beats. The instructor can modify these steps depending on your fitness level and requirements.
Latin Dance Targets All Muscle Groups
Latin dance classes will help you to keep fit and pain-free. Latin dancing also targets nearly all of the major muscle groups. Staying in rhythm is a cardio exertion that is good for the heart while following the steps and weight changes strengthen your quads, glutes, hamstrings, calves, and core.
Your upper body will need to maintain various positions as part of the routine and steps, giving those muscles a workout as well. The movements of Latin dancing will help you to improve your balance, flexibility, and coordination. The result is improved metabolism and weight loss, improved blood flow, detoxification, and a release of feel-good hormones.
Seduced by Salsa!
Salsa dance. It’s sexy but not sizzling, summery yet not sweaty but is sensational when done properly! It’s a perfect sequence of spins, sashays, swings and smiles that speak of a Latin summer by the beach. It is actually a mix of various Latin dances albeit primarily of Cuban influence.
Bring on Bachata!
Bachata is a dance that originated in the Dominican Republic. Being slower, closer and more intimate than Salsa, it’s perfect for those who prefer unhurried movements but like the sway of the hips as great way to condition the core.
Make it Merengue!
Merengue is the national dance of the Dominican Republic though it is also common in Haiti which shares the Island. The typical South American hip sway is very evident in Merengue though the tempo can vary from leisurely to lightning speed, depending on the dance and the experience of the participants. With Merengue you can enjoy the genre’ yet progress with the pace as you become more familiar with the dance.
